Path

Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden from you no more; with your own eyes you will see them.  Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  Isaiah 30:20-21

On December 18, 2018, I had reached a crossroad.  My body, heart and mind were empty and depleted.  My integrity was being tested each day.  I called out to the Lord for direction whether to remain on my current path or to follow a new one.

I began that morning with the daily devotional from Jesus Calling:  “An ongoing problem is like a tutor who is always by your side.  The learning possibilities are limited only by your willingness to be teachable.”  Intrigued, I pulled out my Bible and read the underlying scripture from Isaiah 30.  A counselor is exactly what I needed!  Someone to walk with me and advise me on the way I should go. [Jesus Calling: Sarah Young, Jesus Calling 369 (2004)]

I have spent most of my adult life advising others how to navigate problems.  It was a tremendous relief to be reminded that if I am willing, the Holy Spirit is ready to serve as my compass.

Through his Word, the Lord prompted me to make some dramatic changes in my life.  I now strive each day to remember the promise of Isaiah 30:21 and seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit, my counselor and teacher. Sharon Dobbs #path #adventword
