Restore
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit. Psalm 51:12
In this season of advent, we reflect on how we are powerless and that it’s insane to think that we can manage our hurts, hang-ups and habits on our own. How a power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.
Lord God, thank you that You are my salvation, You are the only higher power that can rescue me from myself. Lord help me to be energetic and excited to pursue my life of salvation. Any energy, any passion I have for life is from You and You alone. It’s for this hope, your glory and my salvation that I give You all things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Focus on the truth that God does exist, that you are important to Him, and that you are able to find the one true higher power Jesus Christ. Focus on the understanding that God wants to fill your life with His love, His joy and His presence. It doesn’t matter what you have gone through, God’s always there for you.
Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Pause, consider some of the coping skills that you’ve tried to stop yourself from, an endless insane cycle of addictions, hurt, hang-ups that you’ve tried to manage. Attempts to control your behavior only to rebound back into the struggle and control of addictions, hurts, and hang-ups.
Sanity is the wholeness of mind making decisions based on truth. Jesus is the only high power that offers the truth, the way and the light. Take time to cry out to the Lord and thank Him for his presence in your life.
Lord God, I’ve tried to fix and control my life’s hurts, hang-ups and habits all by myself. I admit that by myself I am powerless to change. I need to begin to believe and receive Your power to recover. You loved me enough to send me your son to the cross to die for my sins. Father help me be open to the hope I can only find in Him. Please Lord help me living my life one day at a time. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. Christy Diver #restore #adventword
